Outside of the sporting world I have been working on expanding my palette of interests over the last few years. I've outlined a bit about who I am, what I am into right now and where I plan to be in the future.

THE GREAT OUTDOORS

I grew up surrounded by unspoiled nature in the heart of Northern Ontario on Manitoulin Island. Much of my time spent there was outside in one capacity or another. I spent years in both Cubs and Scouts and became a very active camper during this time. Under the wing of a great Scout Leader, George Mazurkavitch, I developed a respect for engaging and preserving all mother nature had to offer. From mosquito invested remote lakes to -50 Celius winter camping we survived it all. He taught us all the fundamentals but the one thing that always comes to mind when I think of our many journeys was to always leave the trail cleaner than we found it. This is one philosophy that has stayed with me through the years and I hope to pass it to my children when the time is right.

Since my incident with gravity it has been a little more difficult to reach the wilds but I have started inching my way back in. Now that I am completed full time school I will have more weekends to spend exploring some of what BC has to offer. My new Compact chair will really make exploring possible again so I'm anxious to get outside and push some limits.

WEB DESIGN

I've been plugging away in the web design world for a little while now. I don't have too much to brag about just yet but I have decided to dedicate about 90% of my learning to web stuff right now. It was a little hard at school cause I could only pick away at it during breaks and holidays but now I'm plugged in 24/7. I will be starting at Northwest Digital in the new year to finish a web commerce program that will allow me do much more powerful development work as well as hardware installation and some networking. I will be involved in building powerful ecommerce websites frontend to back within the year. I get to pick up Javascript and VBscript with a whole bunch of other stuff that I really don't know that much about just yet. Enlightenment coming soon. Big money to follow shortly thereafter. (I promise this time forsure mom). I think this path together with my Commerce degree will be a good one. My hope and plan is that the web design will provide a little more immediate gratification and the commerce will play a vital role over the longer term.

MY RIDE

I love my car! It always gets me to the mountain and back.
